These collections do not include general or military markers for the two world wars, for example, as markers for which are so common that they make up most of the list. 19th Century Europe Collection (Franco-Prussian War)
This section lists all memorials and monuments for the "long 19th Century" in Europe. Markers from all wars from 1789 to just before World War One are included. At present almost all the markers are from the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871. The deciding criteria is not when the marker was built, but what it commemorates.

Holocaust and Genocide Collection
This list includes markers having to do explicitey with the Holocaust or which were probably intended to include the Holocaust (such as memorials to "Nazi victims"), including events which happened before the mass murders began, such as the Reichskristallnacht of 1938. It does not include memorials to resisters, such as the plotters of July, 1944. It also includes memorials to other events also considered genocidal.

Refugees
This section lists all memorials to refugees. At present, that includes only German refugees from the final stages of World War Two and the immediate postwar period. This collection is still under construction. A great general resource for photos of memorials to the German refugees of 1945 is the homepage of the Bund der Vertriebenen. There they have a complete list of all memorials with one photo of each marker in addition to background information on that marker sorted by location. The page and the pdf files with info and photos are in German, however.
