Pictures and text by Mark R. Hatlie
These pictures were taken in Riga during the first week of September, 2007. This marker stands where the entrance to the Jewish ghetto was located in 1941, at the intersection of *** and *** streets. The ghetto soon got smaller and the entrance moved back. The ghetto was dissolved in 1943. The rocks in this piece of art are very similar to those in other Holocaust memorial sites in and around Riga. It is only about two blocks from the ruins of the synagogue and the memorial to Zanis Lipke.
