World War Two Cemetery in Pforzheim

Pictures and text by Mark R. Hatlie

These pictures were taken on 15 April, 2006. The "Field of Honor" for the fallen from World War Two is to the right near the entrance to the cemetery. Unlike the graves from World War One, there is no central memorial focus here. There are just sections of various sizes separated by hedges.

This cross is not for an individual soldier. It reads, "For various households in Pforzheim." Are some of the bombing victims buried here, or are these perhaps people killed when the town fell to the Allies a few months later?

This marker stands near the edge of the Second World War area.
It is a unit memorial for members of the 3rd Batallion, infantry regiment 111 - probably a unit with a lot of members from Pforzheim.
