Military Memorial in Cemetery in Rottenburg/Weiler

Picture and text by Mark R. Hatlie

This picture was taken on 18 March, 2006 in the cemetery of the town of Weiler, which is part of the city of Rottenburg.

The marker is located off to the right from the cemetery entrance.
.
The fallen from both world wars are listed from top to bottom in the order they fell in battle. The First World War takes up the first two and a half stones. The bottom, directyl below the picture of the woman holding the woman Christ figure, it reads, "For our fallen and missing from both world wars, 1914-1918 / 1939-1945".
To the left of the marker there are three military-style crosses for men who died in 1942, 1944 and 1945. Two of the names match names from the marker, so they were probably local men who died of their wounds while convalescing in their home town.
