Cemetery for German prisoners of war in Riga

Pictures and text by Mark R. Hatlie

These pictures were taken in Riga during the first week of September, 2007. This cemetery was rennovated and is maintained by the German war graves commission. It is located on the edge of the Lielie kapi park.

The sign reads "German soldiers' cemetery Riga 1939-1945" in German and Latvian. Why it starts with 1939 and not 1941 remains a mystery.
