Memorial to Latvian air defense auxiliaries killed in September 1944 in Riga

Pictures and text by Mark R. Hatlie

These pictures were taken in Riga during the first week of September, 2007. The memorial was unfortunately under renovation when I visited it. It is located in the Maras darzs park on the west side of the river (the "pardaugava"). The memorial was unveiled on September 19th, 1996, the anniversary of the air raid that killed here in 1944.

The men are buried in a special section of the Brethren cemetery.
