Pictures and text by Mark R. Hatlie
These pictures were taken in Riga during the first week of September, 2007. The gate was originally built in 1815-1817 over what is now Brivibas iela (Freedom Street), one of the main streets in Riga to commemorate the victory over Napoleon. In 1904 it was moved to the city limits. Since 1935 it has stood in its current location in the Viestura darzs. It is just over 10 meters high.
