Memorial to American Pilots Who Fought For Poland in Lviv

Picture by Mark Keck, text by Mark R. Hatlie

This picture was taken on 31 January, 2005 in Lviv. The marker shown is part of a memorial complex built before the Second World War to commemorate Polish losses in wars of 1918 to 1920, primarily against communist forces. Lviv was part of Poland until World War Two. The complex was destroyed during the Soviet period, but recently rebuilt. I do not know whether this memorial was part of the original complex or was added only recently.

The text reads in Polish, "For the American fallen in the struggle for Poland in the years 1919-1929".
