Commonwealth War Cemetery in Anzio

These pictures were taken on 25 July, 2005 at the Commonwealth Cemetery outside of Anzio, Italy, where allied troops landed in January of 1944.

The field of graves is now visible in the background.
This picture and the next are almost directly opposite each other in the cemetry. This plaque explaining the battle is immediately on your left as you walk into the grounds. The small shelter is slightly on the right at the same entrance.

The gravestones show the serial number, rank, first initial and last name of the fallen, followed by the regiment, the date of death, and the age at the time of death. An ornate symbol of the regiment is the main motif on the stone.
